As you may have guessed, I’m deeply concerned about what we can do as individuals in assisting our environment and leaving an environment for our children grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy.

I do my  part in little ways by recycling and in some cities it is taken quite seriously, in others, not as much, but every, every little bit helps, and together creates a “whole”.

I have provided a link to a sight I hope you’ll have time to visit and encourage others to visit as well.  I am a great lover of the ocean and whales and sea animals.  They are close to my heart.  I will provide some information on another blog regarding an issue closer to home in this regard.

Focusing on the critical issues of Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris, Project AWARE empowers thousands of divers in more than 182 countries to work together for a clean, healthy and abundant ocean planet.

Marine Debris

Project AWARE fights for the prevention and reduction of marine debris. Whether reporting marine debris data through Dive Against Debris™ or advocating for long-term policy change, you can make a difference! Learn more about how Project AWARE works on a local and global scale to stop trash from entering the ocean.

Sharks & Rays

Overfishing, bycatch and finning are threatening shark and ray populations across the globe, with the survival of many species at high risk of extinction. Thankfully, divers are some of sharks and rays’ closest allies. Together, Project AWARE divers around the globe are creating a powerful, collective voice for grassroots change, securing stronger safeguards for many shark and ray species.

Community

My Ocean is a growing community of ocean activists. We remove debris, we fundraise, we speak out for sharks and rays and we mobilize our local communities. The fight for the ocean starts with you! Take your local conservation actions to a whole new level and connect with other like-minded supporters around the world. .

Stories

Scuba divers and ocean advocates across the globe are taking a stand for ocean conservation – fins on and off. Through Dive Against Debris™ surveys, Finathon® fundraisers and a variety of eco-actions, we are making progress toward our vision: a return to a clean, healthy and abundant ocean planet. Project AWARE’s work wouldn’t be possible without the groundswell of support from our community of dedicated ocean protectors. These are their stories.
