Clumsy

I have a magnet on my fridge that says, “It’s not funny until someone gets hurt, then it’s hilarious!”  Unfortunately, it’s so true!  When a comic character slips on a banana peel, it’s funny.  I can’t help myself, I have to laugh.

A couple of months ago, I had visitors to my new home.  We were enjoying our conversation, when I heard a cracking sound.  Thinking nothing of it, I settled comfortably in my chair, and before I could register what was happening, I was sitting on the floor amid the rubble of what had once been my chair.  No one laughed because they were all concerned for my welfare.

When I was assisted to my feet and confident nothing was broken or amiss, now over the shock, I started to laugh at myself.  I couldn’t stop.  The others didn’t know whether to laugh or not.  Since I was, they also laughed.

Later they phoned to make sure I was alright.  Normally I would have been humiliated beyond words, but all I could think of was how hilarious it must have looked, now you see me, now you don’t.  Wham down but not out!  Suffice it to say, I was a tad sore for a few days but I recovered nicely.

A few months has passed since the incident, and I still find myself chuckling even laughing with quiet amusement at the thought of my awkward decent to the floor.  I know it’s not an example of clumsy since I did nothing to precipitate the incident.

The only example of clumsy I could muster up for the daily blog, is little ones learning to walk.  They wobble and fall and slip and slide as they learn to balance.  Before long they aren’t clumsy any more, but running a marathon around you.

Other women can attest to how clumsy we were when we first walked on a pair of high heels.  It took practice to walk confidently.  With that in mind I have to smile as I recall the “fail” videos so common on youtube in which a model struts down the runway and loses her footing and down she goes.

I’m looking forward to reading your blogs about “clumsy”.  I promise, I will undoubtedly smile and snicker, not at you, but with you.

          1. I think it’s the not knowing that’s the worst, I have to know then I can deal with it! Remember though God does not give us anything that we can’t handle xx

  1. It seems to be that we are mixed up in two different circles. Your fiends help first, laugh second. Mine do it the opposite way around haha, or they laugh while helping! I’ve got back at them by turning their shoe into an indoor garden but thats a blog for another day haha
