Thought it was time for an update.  Quite a change and for the better I hope.

If you follow a particular genre, short story for example, you can click on short story and the title you wish to read and then click on it.  Once the story appears click again and it takes you to the beginning.  There are arrow on the left and right of the screen to move back and forth to the following or preceding page.

I’m hoping the changes make navigating my blog easier to use.  The Poetry has arrows as well and you’ll find an up button at the bottom to propel you back to the top (thank god).

You will notice the layout is completely different and I’ve added colour and created a white background which I’m hoping is easier to read as one recommendation was white background making reading easier.

Thank you so much Marilyn for trying out the arrows to make sure they work.

There is more work to be done, I’m about 1/2 way there.  Each story needs a re-work so it makes more sense.  Ever since the issue with wp, my blog’s been a mess but it’s been difficult to navigate around to repair.  I’m hoping these changes make it easier for all of us.

If you not an anomily, please let me know so I can look at fixing it (ok, my son can fix it) as he’s the brains of the outfit.  I was surprised at how many changes we could make in such a short time but it feels like an improvement.  As I sat here last night navigating, I was to be honest, delighted.  If it’s easier for me to move around and read, I’m hoping the same applies to you too.

After the wp thing, I tried to add page 1 and page 3 etc at the bottom only to find it worked when I’d done it, and that later at some point, the links stopped which made moving back and forward to the next page impossible.  My next project including going through each story and deleting the page forward back at the bottom as they’ve been rendered moot by the arrows.

You may have noticed that ‘Nathan’ is gone – not gone – just renamed.  I’m continuing to add pictures and quotes that will identify each story so that’s ongoing as well.  Definitely a work in progress, but I have to admit, I really like it so much better, less cluttered looking, and so far easier to navigate.

Hopefully you’ll drop me a line and let me know what you think.  Any ideas that might work better.  I’d appreciate the feedback.

Really appreciate those of you who continually read and follow.  I had no idea how difficult the blog was to enjoy until the update.  I guess I got used to it.  Mind you when I write I’m on the admin side, not the reader side.  It wasn’t until I had a go at changing and erasing unwanted data that I was fully aware of how complicated and ‘blah’ boring and un-fun (is that a word?) the blog was.

Take care all, I’ll be back momentarily with some new poetry and the latest addition to Phase Shift. xoxo

  1. Good for you for making a change! Admin housekeeping can be daunting but as you’ve discovered it’s rewarding to see it all come together. If I come across any broken links I’ll let you know. Putting them in honestly makes the world of difference with the readers. Good luck, have fun and if I can help, let me know. 🙂

    1. I can’t thank you enough for your suggestions, which I tried to implement and they went somewhere, off base, lol, when I mentioned to my son what I was trying to do, he looked through wp to see if there was anything in it that we could use (he was going to write his own code and add it if necessary) but we found this last night and it seems to be working. There’s a lot more to do, but it’s a huge start and I feel much better about it. You are a dear heart. If I could have made your ideas work I would have I liked them so much. I’m so lousy at getting links to work. I was disheartened after attempting for several hours to find they looked good but didn’t apply for some reason. Thank you for responding. It means worlds.!

  2. I am really grateful. This is the first time I’ve been able to read your posts easily. What a difference! I suppose I should have said something sooner, but I’m always a little uncomfortable doing that. But other people told me when I tried using a white on dark format and they were right too 😀

    1. I’m glad you mentioned it. I LOVE the new look and it’s easier to read. I was playing with the idea of making the print bigger but it seems to change the layout and I’m not sure I want to do that, but I’m delighted it works for you, seriously because I too was having a problem.
