Inefficient

Inefficient

When we begin a job that is new

Often times it is absolutely true

We’re inefficient, amateurish too

Until after much practice accrue

Required skills to get the job done

Looking forward to hitting a home run

Knocking our game out of the ballpark

As we hit every new benchmark

Practice makes perfect so they say

Until one day it becomes child’s play

  1. This reminds me of when I first started at my old company. There were so many new responsibilities. At previous jobs, I seemed to know how to handle everything from day one. I had so many questions, and yet my first boss at my old company seemed to think I should just know everything instinctively. She was so horrible that she wouldn’t answer a single one until 5:30 pm each day. I’d go to her desk with several questions and find that she was outside smoking a cigarette. She turned out to basically be abusive. I eventually switched jobs at the company to run away from her.

When I started my second job at that company, there were again lots of new things to do. I did exactly what you wrote about. I practiced and practiced. Eventually I did become a real expert.

    1. I’m sorry to hear you had an abusive boss, unfortunately that seems to be the way of it these days, my family has encountered more than their share. I’m glad you found something that was more productive and that you enjoyed especially a decent boss! They make or break the workplace don’t they?
