Through the haunted house they scampered

While listening to others as they scattered

Waiting for the next uncomfortable surprise

For they’d waited a year to witness with eyes

Huge round and filled with excitement

Loving the thrill and the enticement

To creep forward through the halls

As eerie screams sounded through walls

Someone captured a picture of their fright

When an unexpected monster took flight

Holding onto each other for moral support

A cobweb or two in their hair as they cavort

Outside they laughed with genuine glee

Oh my god, no longer feeling they must flee

We should make another run through

Not a chance someone said costume askew
