Sincere

When someone pays you a sincere compliment, are you able to accept it? Or do you brush it off? I’ve noticed a number of people who do that. If your the person giving the compliment, isn’t it like a slap in the face when your statement isn’t acknowledged? It’s almost as if the person is saying you don’t know what your talking about. You don’t have any taste at all. Why would you say that?

Really, their inability to accept a compliment, in my opinion, should be pointed out. They are rejecting acknowledgement of the statement, whether out of hand, or not, meaning they think it’s prideful to accept and therefore unable to feel good about themselves.

Not only are you denying yourself the acknowledgement, but you also deny the gift of appreciation freely willingly honestly given from someone who obviously respects what you’ve done whether it be a piece of art, writing, painting, sewing, you name it.

Oddly, perfection is sought in everything we do yet we are not and cannot be perfect every time. We aim for perfection, and it’s also true that some of us are harder on ourselves than anyone else and maybe because we haven’t achieved our own sense of perfection is stopping us from accepting that we did a wonderful job.

Just a thought.
