Trent joined her and wrapped an arm across her shoulders, “You ok?”
“I will be, but oh my god, I needed that, painful though it maybe.”

“A little spittle is surely the perfect beginning to a lasting friendship!” he remarked which had them all laughing again.  Maggy decided the better part of valour was keeping her mouth shut and silently listened to the ongoing conversation between Trent and her parents.  It seemed like he’d been around for a while as her parents were comfortable chatting about anything and everything with him.  They all laughed with gusto as the men clinked their beer ‘mugs’ and when they’d finally settled down, wiping tears from their eyes, they smiled at one another.

“I haven’t laughed that hard in ages.  Thank you for providing the opportunity,” Trent said with a half-laugh.

“Your welcome, any time.  Repeat performances provided,” Maggy replied, and the laughter resumed.

“Oh my god, my stomach actually hurts, please stop, please! I can’t take anymore!”  Then she started again, holding her stomach, “I can’t breathe!  Help!” and she finally stopped only because she got up and walked away.

Trent joined her and wrapped an arm across her shoulders, “You ok?”

“I will be, but oh my god, I needed that, painful though it maybe.”

“You’re the beloved daughter I’ve heard so much about.”  Trent grinned.

“I can only imagine the embarrassing tales they’ve spoken about.”  She hung her head in shame.

“Only the good ones, the ones worth hearing.”

“Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of.”

“You’ll live.  Come on, why won’t we take a tour.  I’m sure there’s plenty to see.”

“Why not!”  Maggy agreed.

“We’re going for a walkabout, see you later!” Trent called back to her parents who were still grinning.

“K. see you at home.  Dinner’s at 6:00.”

“Oh, and Trent, your welcome to join us,” her mother added.

“I’ll be there and thank you for the invite, he called out to her parents then added, “One of your mother’s meals is not to be missed,” he confided before adding, “I’ll be there!”

“Just FYI the cooking gene passed me by.  I live on take-out.”

“Good to know.  Awesome that I can cook then.”

“Really!”

“Yeah, good food good times, I always say.”

“So what brought you to our quaint little hamlet?”

“A vacation in the beginning.”

Maggy interrupted, “Oh good, Alma’s still here.  Come on, let’s go grab one of her Danish.  They can’t be beaten!”
