As they walked toward the home furthest away, the one she’d been instantly drawn to because of its permanence it’s classic style it’s warmth and comfort, she smiled. “Now that’s home!”
“You like this one?”
“Like doesn’t come close. It’s exquisite.”
She laughed and said, “When I first walked down the beach and saw both houses, I was instantly captivated and immediately began conjuring up the type of people that might live there…and I secretly hoped it was someone from a creative background that would enjoy it forever. I pictured single men or women to families and couples starting out on life’s journey together! I really hoped with all my heart it was someone that would forever treasure it as more than a house, that would consider it a home to live in, enjoy.” Her laughter was self-deprecating, “Listen to me, waxing poetic.”
“Then your in for a delightful surprise. I have the keys.”
“How awesome! I can’t wait to see what it looks like inside. It’s so invitingly lit, it beckons entrance.”
“It’s a work in progress so be prepared.”
“Who owns it?”
“An individual with good taste?”
“That’s it, that’s all I get?”
He grinned, “Yep!”
As they rounded the driveway and she received her first full view of the house, she stopped stared and took it in. “It’s even more exquisite up close. Look at the lines, the design, the colour. It’s the most beautiful house I’ve ever seen. Almost as if it sprung from the earth, but with such elegance, such depth, such constancy.” She sighed. “Words fail me.”
“I think not!” he exclaimed with real mirth.
Unlocking the door, he pushed it open so she could enter and walked alongside her, watching her response intently without a word.
She stood stock-still as her gaze swept over the entirety of the space before returning to gaze at each room individually. Maggy finally exhaled and breathed deeply. She continued moving from room to room breathing in the design, the style, space. Drawn to the windows overlooking the water, she sat on the wood floor, her gaze never wavered. “You could live here forever and feel wonderfully cared for, enveloped. I know it sounds crazy but it’s so timeless it’s as though centuries have passed from then until now, captured at this moment in time!”
