Sheryl’s Daily Prompt
Although short in stature, Desiree was long on ideas and it had been her brainstorming that led to the most extensive gathering of artists from around the world in this one-time exhibition located in California.
A well-known artist herself, when asked to spearhead the event, she’d been reluctant in the beginning but witnessing everything coming together, she was delighted at the results.
As she glanced across the huge expanse, spotting dozens upon dozens of noted artists setting up their displays, along aside little known artists of incredible talent, she felt awed and touched.
The public wasn’t due to arrive for several hours and there was still much to accomplish. She’d kept a careful eye on placement, avoiding any possibility of clashes as there were some whose animosity and dislike for certain artists was well known. Whether it was justified or a result of clashing ego, she’d attempted to minimize the possibility of anyone igniting a spark of trouble while attending.
Everything was going well, and it was nearly time to open the doors when shouting and loud voices caught her attention. Turning, she spotted two artists in a heated debate and she hurried until she reached the two men.
When she could finally get a word in, and had managed to put some distance between the two, they both looked beseechingly at her while suggesting the other was intent on disparaging their work and the intent was to impugn their process.
She gently but firmly explained that everyone was welcome and their work was spectacular or they wouldn’t have been invited to participate and that the exposition was about to open. There was enough time too change their placement but it wouldn’t be as prestigious as it currently was. That seemed to settle the debate down and the two men turned their backs on each other, content to let it be.
Yeah gods, with moments to spare, she was frustrated but thankful that for the time being, they had been spared a massive confrontation, not that it couldn’t flare up once again, but she’d keep a close eye on the two men for now.
