Jenna found herself in unusual territory since she’d literally caught herself daydreaming, not once or twice, but on three separate occasions. What the hell! It was definitely unique for her. It was all Gary’s fault, she decided with a laugh. He shouldn’t be so completely distracting, or altogether sexy looking, and sublimely handsome. He had the most beautiful smile she’d ever seen on a man, or woman for that matter and she hungrily wondered what those tantalizing lips tasted like. Shaking her head and fanning her face with her hand she thought ,’what are you doing?!’ This was far from her first relationship, but none affected her this way. He was far too appealing and disturbing, but damn she liked it, she liked him!
Gary was eagerly looking forward to his upcoming date with Jenna. He’d suggested hiking at Lake Emerald where he had a cabin equipped with all the necessities and lots of fun toys like his small but handy speed boat, seventeen foot canoe, and rubber raft.
He routinely stocked the place with food, clean blankets, sheets and any other necessities required. Not to mention it was a nice escape for a long weekend getaway, vacation or just for a much needed breather.
The weekend dawned bright and clear if a tad crisp. When Gary had suggested Emerald Lake, Jenna had been ecstatic since she loved boating hiking and all things outdoorsy. It was nifty indeed that he owned a cabin out there.
Grabbing her backpack, she optimistically filled it with the required accoutrements for an overnight stay in the event that… phew yeah that! she laughed at herself.
Gary gave her the grad tour after dropping their gear and stowing the food away and they hopped into the boat and set off across the lake. Jenna was entranced. It was so fresh, so beautiful, and although several cabins dotted the lake shore, the feeling of solitude and seclusion prevailed. The result was an enchanting romantic cozy getaway and the appeal was instantaneous. “Do you get out here very often?”
“As often as time allows. Mostly if life gets hectic, but I usually vacation here. There are plenty of fish, the other folks are friendly but never invade your space, primarily because they’re here for the same reasons you are; a little down time, a lot of relaxation and solitude. A quick word, a nod and a wave usually suffice.”
