“I’ll contact Marta now and give her the news and the go-ahead.”

Annabel retired to her bedroom to place the call and an hour later met up with Kealan in the front room.

I just sent the dogs out for an evening play.” He paused, “I usually take Loki for a run but it’s probably not a great idea at the moment.”

“You think he could be watching you?”

“Not sure. I didn’t pick up on a tail but this guy is running scared so I wouldn’t put it past him to try. Neither my phone nor address are listed anywhere the public can gain access but I’d rather not chance it right now.”

“That would be pretty gutsy!”

“It’s been known to happen. Easy enough to call in and find out which cop has a dog. It wouldn’t be the first time a perp tried to worm his way into an investigation or attempt to influence a cop into giving up a witness.”

“I’m relieved to know that’s not an option here!” Annabel smirked since she was certain it was an impossibility.

“Indeed!” His reply held determination and assurance.

“I know that Kealan, I’m sure of it or I wouldn’t be here.”

His cell phone jingled and he pulled it from his pocket, a startled look on his face. “Kealan!”

“Harmond here.”

“What’s up?”

“We don’t have verification yet, but it seems our perp struck Graham’s associate Marta Stevenson’s house. She came home from shopping to find the porch window smashed out and someone had been inside. Far as she knows nothing was stolen.”

“So the perp figured Graham might have gone there.”

“Yeah, seems so. We have a car parked out front for the interim. He’s actively looking for Graham and the destruction was obviously a retaliation. Not smart. I have a fingerprinting team over there as we speak. Does she have any other close friends and family he might find and consider hitting?”
